Prelude: The Journey Begins
Introduction
After mysterious forces drew 8 adventurers to a mysterious island, they now have to navigate their way through uncharted jungle facing off against hostile Mon-kee and guardian Tiki Totems in order to find a way to return back home...
Part 1 - the betrayal
Our story begins with Cyrell Starwell, the grand magus of the sanctum, an order of magic users devoted to the protection of their ways. After postponing the sanctums integration into the Empires leadership for months, an armed patrol of imperial ambassadors arrives at Cyrell's doorstep. Leviticus, the Grand Magus' assistant and loyal confident urgently bangs on Cyrells chamber doors and requests that Cyrell sign the necessary paperwork as he knows they can't fight against the new order for much longer. Cyrell uses levitation to float out from his bedroom window to greet the imperial ambassadors.
Meanwhile, a small gang of goblin thieves trying to make a name for themselves enters into the grand Magus' sanctuary from an unused abandoned cellar in an attempt to pull off their greatest heist yet. Something that would surely get their name on the map among the greatest thieves in all of Stormholde. Twitch marches through the darkness of the celler with his two goblin henchman, Hix and Zrek eagerly following under their leaders command.
Upstairs with Cyrell, the imperial ambassadors request a tour of the facilities barging their way into the keep and immediately are drawn to a room filled with relics, artifacts and other magical devices to which Cyrell, in honest cooperation, allows them to enter. They rifle through with reckless abandon before proclaiming that they are impressed with the collection he has amassed, but they ask Cyrell to consider the benefits that they can have should he fully welcome Imperial leadership. One of the ambassadors pulls out a magical orb, a taste of the relics the Empire has at their disposal waiting to be studied. Cyrell eagerly grabs the orb and begins inspecting it closely.
Outside the tower, a young woman named Namira approaches the home sanctuary of the Sanctum with an appointment to speak with the grand magus over urgent personal matters. The door left ajar, she invites herself in trying to find any sign of the Magus or his staff.
As Cyrell investigates the mysterious orb, Leviticus pulls out a similar one and utters a magic word, "obliviate" which activates the orb and begins draining the power from Cyrell and transferring it to Leviticus himself. He explains that they should have welcomed the Empire long ago, and that they payed him a hefty sum in order to ensure the Empire can finally take control of the mages guild in the region of Stormholde. Cyrell feels his power leaving his body, even seeing the incorporeal form of his patron leaving his body while Leviticus claims he is doing what is best for guild, as he always has in the past, and always will do. Once Cyrell's power is fully drained Leviticus opens a portal that pulls in everything not tied down.
Namira watches from outside the door as the portal is opened and is pulled into the room startling the two ambassadors and Leviticus as to who the hell this woman is - as the portal pulls everything nearby, including the doors ripping from their hinges, Namira holds strong. One of the ambassadors attempts to push Namira in, but like a mountain she remains immovable, and the Imperial ambassador is quickly laughed at by his partner for how weak he is.
After sneaking through the celler and making it to the ground floor, Twitch and his gang enter the closest door to them to find a kitchen stuffed with golden cutlery & kitchenware. He is able to pocket a few golden spoons and spatulas before moving on.
Continuing down the hall he and his gang hear commotion coming from down the hall. Walking over to investigate, it is not long before sheer power of the opened portal pulls twitch through, startling the imperial ambassadors Leviticus, and Namira as 3 goblins are seen flying through the doorway and into the portal. The Imperial ambassadors and Leviticus scoff wondering what kind of Zoo Cyrell turned this place into while Namira, dumbfounded by what is going on loses her concentration and her balance and is pulled into the portal as well.
Twitch was not the only thief trying to make a move on the renown magic keep, as Volpe the thief also attempted to breach the fortress and steal the keys to access the more restricted sections. Perhaps he knew about the imperial delegation and wanted to take advantage of the distraction, or maybe he just drank to much and thought it would be a good idea to attempt alone, either way he too would find himself being drawn and pulled into the portal opened by Leviticus.
Finally, Cyrell Starwell's personal halfling chef Zeetus prepared a steak breakfast for Cyrell but is unable to find him in his bedchambers. He heads towards the room of artifacts and is the last one pulled into the portal before it closes behind them.
Part 2 - lost
Appearing on a foreign island, 8 adventurers wake up on the shore. Davina the half-elf druid, Twitch the goblin rogue, Namira the half-elf fighter, Airam the Dwarf Paladin, Volpe the half-elf rogue, Zeetus the halfling cleric, Cyrell the human warlock & Paradisi the bard grapefruit fruitkin The island sea breeze is calming, and only the severe heat from the afternoon sun wakes them up from a deep slumber.
Twitch immediately begins shouting in the ear of Airam for his goblin companions to which he receives no response. Cyrell and Zeetus try to figure out what the hell happened while Namira is quick to realize that before her stood the legendary Grand Magus of Stormholde whom she had traveled for months to speak with. Distrustful of strangers, Airam runs off into the jungle to get away from the chaos of everyone speaking to one another. Davina runs in after her.
As they argue amongst the group, a small hermit crab names Samson walks up onto the shore. He excitedly greets the party. He explains that he hasn't seen anyone like them in years and years and offers them a handful of seaweed to smoke through a bamboo pipe to which Paradisi and Volpe eagerly accept. Twitch looks for any tracks to see if he can find out where his followers went, and follows some into the jungle, although he is unsure if these footprints are from his friends or Davina/Airams.
In the Jungle, Airam comes across a bunch of tiki totems and a single ape surrounding a helpless sentient coconut. Airam tries to hug the ape but it startles him and he shrugs her off. At this point, the rest of the party decided to follow the abandoned trail into the jungle where they catch up to Airam, Davina, and Twitch.
Davina attempts to communicate with the ape telepathically, and it tells her that the coconut is bad. Davina believes the ape unquestionably and charges in to attack the coconut without telling the rest of the party what she knows.
Seeing Airam getting tossed back by the ape, hearing cries for help, and watching Davina charge to battle the party follows but targets the hostile tiki's and ape. Volpe stands behind and watches, unsure of what side to take.
The battle is long and dangerous for some party members, as Namira is knocked unconscious, Zeetus takes a firebolt straight to the chest, and the ape critically ground pounds Airam crushing her skull. Unfortunately, Airams will to live is not strong enough, and she allows her demon patron to take her under into the abyssal plane.
The rest of the party make quick work of the hostiles, calm the enraged Davina & rescue the coconut who they learn is a cocokin named Oho who has lost his family to the Mon-kee. Although these beings are completely alien to Oho, he sees their strength and is quick to suggest that they can help save his family. At the very least, perhaps they can get him safely back to his village. The party hesitantly agrees, leaving behind the body of the stranger Airam, who they regrettably did not know for long.
